can I stop FB & email from uplading new msgs without turning my s5 off?

Have only had my fist smartphone for 2 weeks.

I try to rely on wifi as much as possible to save data usage. at nite I charge my battery & turn off wifi. In the am I have all sorts of new fb and emails, so obviously the updates are coming overnite via 4LTE. Is there an easy way to stop this and only use wifi?

Welcome to the forums. I think FB can be changed so that it doesn't update unless you open the app. Email might not work like that though.

I am also new to cell phones, but like to try different things. What I do to stop mobile data is go to settings, more settings, mobile networks, than turn off mobile data. I have a Samsung note 3, but you may have a similar option. This stops ALL mobile data (even attachments on texts).
