Why is my galaxy s4 charging so slow?

Phone is 6 months old and has been charging fine until now. Now I am getting the slow charging use original charger message, when I'm already using the original charger. It's also losing batteries life when it's charging and I'm not using it. I have tried using different outlets and different chargers. I don't know what I should do! Also, iPad is facing the same problem, but it uses a different charger.

Possibly a faulty USB lead, or a faulty or dirty USB port.
