Welcome to Android Central! How are you trying to connect, via wi-fi or Bluetooth? And what are you trying to connect for? If you connect via wi-fi, you're not doing it directly with the computer--you're connecting to the same wi-fi network that your computer is on. When the devices are on the same wi-fi network, you can do things like transfer files using an app like AirDroid.

If you connect via Bluetooth, you may be able to transfer files (although I've read that this can be a little clunky on some devices and computers).
