How do I silent my G3 and still get notiftifications?

My phone had an upgrade, so it upgraded, but now I cannot silent my phone without also turning off my notifications. I just want to turn vibrant off but still get my text messages and messages from Facebook. Help please!

Welcome to Android Central! I take it you updated to Lollipop, correct? This issue is something that people quickly started complaining about, and from what I've read, Google plans to address in the upcoming 5.1 update. I think the only way for you to silence your notifications without turning on Vibrate, and to still have notifications appear in the status bar, is to go to Settings>Sounds>Notifications​, tap on the notification tone selection option, and select None.
