Since updating to Lollipop, why does my phone screen keep turning on and off while on the charger?

Updated to Lollipop -- Phone screen keeps turning on and off while on the charger

Behaves normally while unplugged. Any ideas? I thought it was notifications being pushed, so I ran through and wiped out notifications any any remaining apps (uninstalled a lot).

Not sure if this is a cable issue or this update is bugging. Any ideas?

Welcome to Android Central! Which device? It sounds like the microUSB port might be intermittently connecting and disconnecting--either the charging function or the data function. Have you tried a different cable? I realize that wouldn't make much sense if the update seems to have brought this on, but try it just in case.
