Power draw exceeds 2 amp charger?

A

AC Question

I had the tablet plugged into my charger (2 amp) I was surprised to find that even plugged in the battery still drained to zero found out while in the middle of a paid transaction and the money was lost because the tablet shut down. No battery warning before, but even if there was, why does it drain so fast?

Location, gps turned off.
Screen at 25%.
No background apps running (other than whatever Samsung runs automatically).

What else can I do to save battery power? Not being able to use it while plugged in (even as a book reader) without it draining to zero within an hour means something must be wrong no?

Welcome to Android Central! Which tablet? There are several possible reasons:

1. Bad charging cable and/or wall charger plug--try different ones.
2. Bad battery--would have to take it to a repair shop to replace it.
3. Bad USB charging port--would also need repair shop.
4. Running power-intensive apps while plugged in--power consumption could still exceed charging.
