Why does my Samsung keep shutting down at 85 of battery power?

my samsung keeps shutting down at 85% of battery power

there are never power warnings or anything it just stops - and wont turn back on - when the charger is first plugged in it shows dead but at the first green line it will let you turn it back on then it immediately says it has 83-85% of battery and indicates 100% within a half hour - what could the problem be?

Sounds like a dendrite to me - a really bad one. If you can't get the store to understand that it's a manufacturing defect, go to Amazon and look for an Anker or Hyperion battery (or 2 and a charger) for your phone. Even the expensive ones are under $15, so I wouldn't wast too much time fighting for a factory replacement, just ask and see if they'll do it. If not, oh, well. If you smoke, that's just 3 packs.
