Why does my tablet stay on after I hit snooze or wake on the alarm?

After Lollipop, I was very happy to see that after hitting snooze or wake on the alarm clock, the tablet would quickly sleep again (go black). Before Lollipop, it would stay on after I hit snooze for however long I had it set to sleep. Now, after update 5.1, it no longer shuts off after I hit snooze, so my tablet glows in the dark for the five minutes I have it set to. I know I can change this by setting it to snooze after 30 seconds but it BUGS me that they would eliminate this feature after such a short time.

I'd consider what happened before 5.1 to be a bug. Once the screen is on, it's supposed to shut off after X time of no activity, not immediately for certain apps.
