messanger update is stuck in download mode

I have removed battery & sim card but it is still downloading and stuck at 20%.

Welcome to Android Central! Which phone? Do you mean that it's trying to update a Messenger app, and it's been stuck downloading it? Is it the Google Messenger app, or the Facebook Messenger app?

Go to Settings>Apps>All​, select Download Manager, and Clear Cache/Clear Data, then Force Close. Now try again.
