Samsung S3 SGH-T999L How to move phone contacts/data/photos, etc. to SIM

A friends phone was dropped. Black screen yet charging LED, back and menu buttons light up. I tried calling this phone and buttons light up and no ring nor screen work.
I've tried the Hard reset, remove battery for several minutes while holding on/off button for a minute. Even the hard tap method.
I want to send the phone in for replacement, but really want to capture as much as possible.

When the phone is on, plug it into a computer - you may be able to copy files and pictures to the computer (depending on the device's settings). Contacts, apps, as well as some app data should be backed up to Google, so you just need to log into the Google account on the new phone and that stuff will be restored.

SMS/MMS messages will probably be lost however. Hopefully someone can give you more specific help.

That's about it, dancing-brass. The details are at Backing up an Android Phone, but many of them don't apply if the phone isn't working. Recovering files via adb (Post #22) may help.
