Which is better as an overall phone? I don't care much about the camera or design. I just want a phone with minimal lag, a big screen, a fairly good battery to last me through the day, and a good user experience

For what you're asking from a phone, it would be pretty hard to beat a Nexus 6. And I think they are still on sale for $500, down $150 from $650.

The Note 4 is still a great device.
The LG G4 is newer and also great.
We're so close to the launch of the Note 5 that I would say wait to see it, if you can wait.
But to be fair answering your question, at this moment, I would say is tight between the Note 4 and the G4.
I would go with the G4 just because is newer.
