Why can I not send or receieve text messages?

I was able to use text messaging today then suddenly the messaging stopped working. Now when I attempt to send a text it says failed. The little circle turns but the message does not go through.

Have you contacted your carrier? Are there any towers in your area being serviced?

Are you sending texts longer than 160 characters and have your text app set to not send long texts as separate tests (or to send them as
MMS)? Either way would fail if your APN isn't set up right for MMS.
