What's wrong with my HTC Dsire eye if the screen is black and the charging light is still on?

I turned my phone off last night to charge it while I was sleeping. Around 7 I turned it on, but I fell back asleep. When I woke up around 8 I went to go look at my phone and take it off the charger I realized my screen was black and wasn't working. Once I took it off the charger, the light that shows me when I am charging my phone is still on and won't turn off.
