How can I remove 16 letter gmail password from phone

I had toughened up my security on my gmail account, and it knows my Galaxy is my phone. But as soon as I did it, suddenly I have to enter this 16 letter code to get into my phone. I stripped out all the extra security on my gmail account, reloaded the gmail onto my phone and it still is asking for the 16 letter code to get into my phone.

Okay after days of trying to figure this out, just after I posted the question I figured out the issue: I hadn't set up a security password/pattern on my phone. As soon as I did, the 16 digit password disappeared and now I just have the swipe pattern to get into my phone.
