AC Question

My data usage shows data being used at 3 am when I am sleeping. AT&T rep said apps etc are always using it - that shouldn't happen when wi-fi is on, right? Does anyone know what I should do so my mobile data is not being eaten up when not in use? Thanks so much

That's strange. WiFi connection should override mobile data. Maybe there's some app forcing mobile to be used. Check in your WiFi and carrier settings if there's such an option. Some phones come with a feature called smart network switch (or something similar). If that's your case disable it and see if that makes a difference.

Several apps are going to use data in the background, that's normal. If that usage is very high maybe you've got some app programed to sync/upload at that specific time. Check the settings in any cloud storage app that you've got and make sure that sync is done only through WiFi. Try to check in your data usage stats which apps are using most of that data.
