Why does my phone (HTC One m7) say "Sim card from an unknown source and how can I fix it?

I recently purchased a factory unlocked HTC One m7 on eBay. The phone shipped from the US and I live in Canada. I am currently using a prepaid Koodo sim card, and when I put it in the phone a message appeared onscreen saying "Sim card from an unknown source". How can I fix this?

You need to check your APN settings with that of your carrier settings. There is some information for you here. http://forums.androidcentral.com/moto-x-2013/346215-sim-card-unknown-source-moto-x-cdma-verizon.html It's a different phone, however, the principle is the same.
