Wireless charger gets hot and shuts down

[AC Question]

Use my wireless charger overnight and it gets hot and shuts down, not fully charging my Samsung Galaxy S5.

Welcome to Android Central! Is it an official Samsung charger, or a no-name charger you got for cheap online? If the latter, I would suspect a defective unit. Also, does the phone have a case on? If so, some cases don't dissipate heat that well, so it's possible the heat generated by wireless charging might be causing overheating.
