Updated my Galaxy S6 to 5.1.1 (Lollipop) and now my contacts won't sync. Please Help!

This morning my S6 advised me that a Software Update was available. I updated to version 5.1.1 but ever since doing so, my contacts are gone and it continuously says "Updating Contacts" with a turning arrow, but 6 hours later, it's still doing the same thing. I even tried removing my google account and re-adding it to see if it would upload my contacts that way, but it is still doing the same thing. The arrow just keeps turning as if it is trying to update/upload but nothing is happening. Anyone know how to resolve this issue without having to do a factory reset? Unfortunately that's all Sprint had to offer me when I called them. I'm hoping to find answers here before going into a store. Thanks in advance!
