How do I add multiple phone numbers and email addresses to contacts?

When entering or editing a contact i can only put in one phone number. There seems to be no way to enter more than one ph no , no emailaddress, no postal address etc.
I downloaded the manual and it says tap + to add more fields etc.
There is NO + in that screen on my phone which was purchased last week from telstra.
Help with this please.
