Video Player on Samsung S4 mini causes battery to overheat to about 50 degrees Celsius

AC Question

The app 'Video Player' (which has an icon that looks slightly different from the Samsung Video icon) causes my S4 mini to overheat to 50 degrees Celsius and takes about 48% resources. I am running Android KitKat 4.4.2. I have no SD card in the phone. This overheating happens every second day and it happens when I'm not even watching a video, the phone is idle but then this app just misbehaves like that. I have an app called Watchdog Lite which alerts me when the Video Player app exceeds CPU threshold. Then I just kill the Video Player app. I am afraid that all this regular overheating will damage my battery and/or other components in my phone. I cannot uninstall the Video Player app even though I don't even use it. What can I do to fix this problem? Please help...
