My photos on the SD card are gone after my phone updated. Where did they go?

My phone did an auto update. When I went to get some photos from the SD card, there were none. If I looked in the My Files app it shows something marked Lost.dir but no images in it. Now my phone won't save photos to the SD card even though I set it to this directory.

connect your phone to your PC and look for the files through the explorer program.
If you still cant find it, use a file restorer program to restore the files.
