Why do I have voicemail of my phone dialing a random number?

A

AC Question

My cellphone (Samsung Galaxy Acex2 on Telus Network) was on the desk in front of me. I haven't touched or used it in hours, and suddenly I receive only a notification that I have a voicemail. My phone didn't ring or receive a missed call notification. There wasn't a record in my phone history.

I listened to the voicemail, and it was my phone ringing after dialing a random number, and the person on the other line picked up. "Hello? Hello?" he said and like anyone who doesn't receive a response, he hung up. I didn't recognize his voice.

So... What's going on? Is there a virus of some kind? I don't use the internet on my cellphone because it's too damn old. It takes about 30 seconds before it sends a text message.

Welcome to Android Central! Strange--have you asked your carrier about this? I doubt it's a virus--it sounds more like a glitch in the phone system. I wouldn't worry about it unless it starts happening regularly.
