Why is my Whatsapp data download slow?

Simply put, when I download videos on Whatsapp, it gives me a very poor speed. I have 16mbps connection which gives me a download speed of 2mbps. I have a network monitor running so I can see my speed continuously on my phone. On any other app (Youtube/Facebook/Twitter/Games/Play Store/Updates etc.) I get my 2mbps download speed. However, when I download videos on Whatsapp, I barely get a speed of 50-200kbps. I've deleted cache, reinstalled app, deleted unnecessary chat etc, all the common suggestions but this issue still persists. Can someone help me with this? PS: On my 3G data connection, I get a decent speed of 600kbps. I have a Moto X Play, 2GB RAM, usually at least 800mb+ free, 32gb Internal.

Could just be the server that Whatsapp uses.
