Why i cannot update my Sprint unlocked HTC m8 ?

I have a Sprint unlocked HTC one m8 mobile in India. Running on kit Kat 4.4.2 . But I am not receiving any software updates to lollipop. If I check for updates it is checking plongly but with no use. What should I do to update my Android device to Lollipop update. Please help me. Please say is it possible to get ota lollipop update after rooting the device. Please help. Thank you

It's because the device is intended for the Sprint network and can only be updated via OTA sent by Sprint. You may be able to update manually. However, you'll need to download and update via the HTC desktop software. Note that it may cause problems with your current network.

You can install the ruu,though not sure how it will affect root, as ruu is designed to be installed on a stock phone
