How to solve "can't establish a reliable connection to the server" issue?

I factory reset my phone (LG Optimus L90 / rooted) and can't get past the login screen because whenever I try to login to my google account it states that it can't establish a reliable connection to the server even though I'm connected to wifi

Sounds like it may be an issue with your Wifi connection. Try power cycling your modem / Router and then trying again
