Phone Storage Not Recognised correctly

I have a Blu Studio 5.0C HD running Android 4.4.2. The phone specs quote 4 gig of internal storage , however the phone itself ( and ES File Explorer ) report 2.34 GB. I don't have a LOT of apps installed , and those that can be moved to the SD card have been , but I'm running low on space ( Google aps won't update ). Is there something I can do ? My thought was a fresh re install ( which I want to avoid if possible ). TIA

Try wiping cache partition to start. Then move as much to sd card as you can. Four gig isn't much for a smartphone these days , mine uses 7 gig for system...

Welcome to Android Central! 4 GB is the total storage on the phone, of which around 2-3 GB is typically taken up by the OS. Manufacturers never report the available storage in the specs (not even Apple).
