Why do my S5's speakers not work?

I got a refurbished Galaxy s5 and it hasn't had the speakers work at all since I got it. I would like to not have to send it back, but I can't seem to get the speakers to work, either with a call in, text messages, or speaker phone. The headphone jack works fine, as does the sound for calls.
