Why is battery life draining so fast on galaxy 5 right after the last system update was installed.

the battery life drains very fast. This seemed to occur right around the time the last devise update was installed in May 2016.
my phone is not even 2 years old. Do I need a new battery or did the update do something bad? How can I fix this problem?

Probably just something went a little wonky on the update, since it's a major update (lollipop to marshmallow). You can do a factory reset. It's actually advisable to do so after major updates.
