How to retrieve photos after a forced re-set on Galaxy S7?

Is there any way to retrieve "lost" photos after a forced re-set - I updated the system as requested by Android...and then it wouldn't open with my fingerprint... asking instead for my secret code... which I couldn't remember, given that I've been using my fingerprint! Ended up having to have the store do a forced re-set. Google retrieved most of my apps, contacts etc, but none of the photos.

Google should have backed up your photo's too.? There is no other way to recover them, if you didn't have them backed up through Google Account. Sorry!
