Odd camera angle on Verizon video call

SO, I got my note7 and the one thing i miss from iPhone is Facetime, Hubs and I have androids now and he found something during a phone call that allows video. I was so excited until he claimed he could only see the side on my forehead. I tried pointing it in a different direction, pulling the phone farther away, still only sees my side.. rear camera works fine, and i even pointed my front camera at something else and it works... just when i point it at me... help

Today we tried using google duo, and my front camera works just fine... just whatever app verizon uses for video calls... anyone else having this issue?
