How to fix S5 with Samsung Flip Case to display in Android Auto mode

I have a rooted S5 running 5.0 PB1 and have Samsung flip case/wireless charger system. We just got a car with Android Auto so I installed it. When I plug it in, it works fine UNTIL I close the cover on the S5, at which point my car's display goes black. Open the cover on the S5 and it displays. Anyone know how to make Android Auto display with the cover closed? I know I can disable the cover by covering up 2 pins but I really like how it works.
