Any suggestions with trouble logging into the Facebook mobile app?

I've been using the app for several years and out of the blue it stopped working yesterday. I've tried reinstalling the app, resetting my phone, checked all the settings. The error message says to check the Internet connection but I am using the internet freely without any problem, it's only the app. I'm very frustrated and confused!
