why wont my htc desire 626 turn on or charge?

okay so, my htc desire 626 died earlier and i had no way to charge it but when i got home i plugged it in but now it wont turn on nor will the charging light come on. i dont think i have a warranty but ive not had it for a year.

How much remaining charge was indicated when this happened?

there was no charge. i didnt have a charger handy.

Opinions vary, but there are those who say that allowing a battery to drain until the device powers off is bad practice. A truly fully-discharged battery may be impossible to recharge, and furthermore, explosively dangerous. Usually however, the phone powers off with some charge remaining, to prevent all that.
It may be safest to have the battery tested.
