Tablet now shows device memory damaged must reset but will not any advice?

It states on upper left corner Device memory damaged in bold letters below it shows The data portion has been corrupted. You need to reset your device to factory defaults. This will erase all your data. far right rectangle with reset device written in it, like a button but does not reset, tried all other methods power, volume button and home to reset but still does nothing, all I can get it to do is start and or odin mode.
