Android Central Question

My mother bought a Sony Xperia tablet model SGPT1211 several years ago and recently gotten an error on the boot screen with the Sony Logo in the middle. The error is in the upper left corner in red text that states:

Failed to comsinutil_read_from_partition(-2147352569)
Error (0x00050001, 0x8000200007).

She's had trouble in the past and I was able to do a hard reset and restore using the Power and Volume Up button combo but this time it doesn't seem to do anything. I just get to the same screen.

My thoughts would be do a factory reset (if it's even possible) or if I could get a custom ROM since its far out of warranty anyway.

This device does not have a USB port of any kind since it's a tablet. It does have an SD card slot for any file transfers.

Welcome to Android Central! You could try using Xperia Companion to repair the firmware: https://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/FAQ/...are-repair-with-Xperia-Companion/td-p/1103057. But I'm not sure if it'll work for an older device like yours, nor if it'll work with the device in its current state.

FYI, it looks like the Xperia Tablet S can connect via USB -- but you need their proprietary Multiport adapter (see more about it in the manual: https://brandzone.bz/files/catalog/upload/1/5/planshet-sony-xperia-tablet-s-en.pdf).
