My Samsung Galaxy A3 fell in water, now works fine in all but the power button, why?

AC Question

Hi there,

About four hours ago, my phone fell in 2 or 3 inches of water, but I immediately picked it up. It began flickering and acting weird. About 5 minutes later, it was put in rice. We left it there for almost three hours. Now, one hour after taking it out of the rice, it seems to be working fine, except for one thing, which is the power button: the phone won't turn off. How can I fix this? My phone only has 8% of its battery remaining. If it powers off, I suppose it won't be able to be turned it back on. On the other hand, I am concerned that some other complication might arise if I try to charge it.

Also, should I put the phone back in the rice? Or any other emergency measures to take to avoid problems later? Help! Thanks!

Don't charge it. If you're going to use the rice method, leave it in there for a week.
By now, whatever method you use, the phone is likely to fail at some future time, alas.
