With Nougat, how do you customize "Do Not Disturb" mode?

I have the LG V20 phone with the Nougat operating system. On my old Samsung Galaxy S5, I had a scheduled Do Not Disturb mode that silenced all notifications but still allowed me to play music while in bed or to listen to an audiobook. Now, with this operating system, even though there is the illusion of customization, when my scheduled DND mode turns on, I can't play any audio at all, even with it in priority mode vs total silence. I have to manually turn off DND, then turn it back on when I am finished listening to my book, which for some reason bypasses the schedule and stays on until I remember to disable it the next day. Is there a way to customize DND that I am missing, or is Nougat just lousy?
