Why does my Galaxy TabPro s bluetooth turn off when i try to play music?

I turn on blue tooth. i connect to my speaker. I go into spotify or youtube..... and every time the tablet turns off blue tooth and plays through it's own speakers. what's wrong? I checked, there are no software updates pending for my tablet or for the apps.
Power saving mode is not on. no other apps are active.
