the recent apps opened button won't work

when i long press my home button in order to see my opened apps it does't work. A message pops up on the screen that says 'unfortunately, the process com.android.systemui has stopped. Then when i click ok, my backround goes black for a few secs and then goes back to normal. What do I do???/

I have a Samsung Galaxy S4 and was having the same problem.
The solution is this: Uninstall "Google Apps" via Settings / More / Application Manager.
Do not perform any updates to "Google Apps" until they perhaps create a more updated (better working) version.
