Looking to come back to android- security patches??

[AC Question]

Hi I am looking at coming back to android in 2017 after being with apple for around 18months or so. My questions is which of the main brands has the best security and software update schedules. My reason for leaving android before was the lack of this from many of the main manufacturers (as usually had unlocked phones). I cannot get the obvious pixel due to upfront cost and contract availability so am looking at HTC, Samsung, Sony etc manufacturers.

Any advice would be great as have tried looking directly at manufacturer websites without much luck.

I think the fruit is more timely and staying current.

The Huawei line seems quite good, the Mate 9 looks and feels similar to my 6S Plus, and with security updates.

I was disillusioned with Blackberry, long waits from Sammy.
