How to keep phone call keypad on during a call instead of going black

When dialing number for call when ringing the keypad goes dark so like for automatated calls when u have to keep pushing numbers to get thru the questions and such after each entire the screen blacks out and I always have trouble getting the. Keypad back up fast enough to get there the automated call need the key pad to stay up and visable ty
