Last 2 rows of the screen have become unresponsive

My moto 5 plus after 1 week's use is having this issue where the bottom 2 rows of the screen (in portrait position) have become unresponsive to the touch. That patch remains when I rotate the screen in the landscape position. The hardware test of the pre-installed moto help app also indicate this unresponsive patch. Is this the hardware or a software bug? Please help.

Did the dead patch stay in portrait mode when you rotate the screen? If yes, I'd be thinking hardware, if it rotates, software.
In service mode, you can check out the digitiser hardware...
