Icon removal

I'm new to tablets and have only had my android phone for a short time. When I got my new tablet, I can't figure out how to remove unwanted icons from the desktop. I can't believe that the tablet came without any manual to speak of. The basics should be handled. Can anyone help?

On the home screen of your choice, try this, any icon of any app/game or widget, long press the icon/widget you wish to remove, keep it pressed and slide it up to the top of the screen to where you see: "X Remove", slide it on to that.

Btw, icons you remove from the home screens can always be added back as they were never permanently removed (uninstalled).

To add icons you want on the screen, open the app drawer and long press on them and they will make a copy from the app drawer onto the home screen.

Icons that are in your app drawer cannot be removed, unless you go into the tablet's settings and uninstall from there or uninstall from the Google Play Store.
