Re: [HOW-TO] Download and Install CM7 to Run Off SD Card
Hello
WHAT DOES THIS MEAN Write on Windows by using WinImage and on Linux/MacOS X by using dd (to the entire device, not one of the partitions. The device name should not have any numbers at the end. The command is something like dd if=/somewhere/generic-sdcard.img of=/dev/sdX bs=1024k). Been trying to do this download and keep getting errors on the nook, using a Scan disk 8gb class 4 card - 07-08-2011, 08:22 PM

Re: [HOW-TO] Download and Install CM7 to Run Off SD Card
i keep getting a blank screen after installing sd card? ive tried a nightly and a rc. after i take the card out and put in pc i see there files that got installed. is there any special buttons i need to hit on boot? any suggestions?
im using windows in a virtualbox.
solved! i used win32 disk imager and ran it as admin. make sure you put the image file in the same folder as win32 disk imager. doing this thru a virtualbox worked great.Last edited by b.roid; 07-13-2011 at 08:48 PM.

Re: [HOW-TO] Download and Install CM7 to Run Off SD Card
Sweet Win32 disk imager worked!! WAAY easier to use than WinImage(which wasnt working). I am downloading the Stable Build of CM to my card right now but am kinda confused because above he says to download the file as is, but its a zip file which I think needs to be unzipped first

Edit: okay according to the youtube videos I have been referencing ( ) @ 1:15 she says that the zip file gets dragged over to the SD card and DOESNT get unzipped. Apparently this happens on the nook which she shows in video 3. Also just another fyi, I found Win32 Disk Imager worked, but I had the (unzipped) Image file on my PC and selected it on my PC in the Win32 program because putting it on the SD Card and then trying to write it to the SD Card didnt work.Last edited by ruger141; 07-14-2011 at 01:51 AM.

Re: [HOW-TO] Download and Install CM7 to Run Off SD Card
Great instructions! I followed them last night and easily made a tab out of my brand new NC.
Now I have a newbie question.
I want to download apps from the app market. I signed in with my exisiting user name and everything goes to my phone instead of the NC. So I created a new user ID and nothing will download because it says it is not associated with a device. What the heck? - 07-14-2011, 02:31 PM #9

Re: [HOW-TO] Download and Install CM7 to Run Off SD Card
If I could have gotten the market to work I would not have been asking for help.
I did finally figure it out by using the thread over on xda that was linked in the original post. Here is what I did:
1. Follow verygreen's instructions in original post.
2. Then I setup my wireless.
3. Turned nook off and pulled sdcard.
4. Connected sd card to computer.
5. Make backup of uImage and uRamdisk
6. Renamed uRecImage to uImage and uRecRamdisk to uRamdisk
7. Downloaded the latest gapps zip file and copied it to the sd card.
8. Copied the update cm zip file that I originally used from the initial install back to the sd card.
9. Ejected card, inserted card into nook and booted up.
10. Recovery popped up and started to unzip both zip files.
11. Let it finish and then it will boot normally.
12. Once the nook boots, the initial sign pops up.
13. Skip everything until you get the normal home screen. None of the sign-in will work because it is looking for a phone signal.
14. Once you get to the home screen, make sure your wifi is still setup correctly and click on the market. Then follow the normal account setup directions.
Hope this helps someone else. It sure made me happy

Re: [HOW-TO] Download and Install CM7 to Run Off SD Card
Read new market application-How new? I installed CM7 2 weeks ago and used latest on the site. How do I know that market is latest version? Thanks.

@popeye, believe me, if you have the new market app, there is no way you would not know, as it is totally different from any of the prior updates. Look at the thread in the OP and follow to xda to grab the apk file. I love the new layout and we now have the ability to download books from the market.
