    Thumbs up [ROM] Epic CM7 SELFKANG (10/11) - 2.3.7

    Source :

That's right Epic users! Looks like the idea of CM7 or (Cyanogen Mod 7) for the Epic 4g isn't dead. Follow the source link above to the great devs at XDA who are making this possible.

Feel free to openly discuss anything concerning this release in this thread and they will be answered if possible by fellow members. For direct support from the devs I would consider posting your questions over at XDA.

    Nice!

So, if I use gotorfs.zip to change from EXT to RFS, how do I go back to EXT if I want to restore a nandroid backup in the event that I do not like CM7?

So glad they came out with this. A lot of the ROMs I've been using and my Epic in general, have grown 'sour'. Hopefully this could remedy it

If I remember correctly Chris 41g of ACS has a thread over at XDA with a flashable zip in CWM to easily switch back to Ext 4.

Edit: Here is that thread link for the EXT 4 to RFS and RFS to EXT 4 zip package from Chris.

Paul, in the instructions, when it says to WIPE (in CWM) what specifically do they mean?
Just because you are paranoid, doesn't mean people aren't after you.

Wipe Data, Cache, and Dalvik Cache 3x each. And if you are coming from an EXT4 ROM, make sure you flash that .zip file in the OP before you flash the actual ROM

I wouldn't mind seeing some screenies and hearing some feedback on how this is working out...

Speaking of screenies, there is actually a button to do that in the power menu (where you can turn off, reboot, etc.)!

I stand corrected. CyanogenMod for the Epic appears to have a chance!
I couldn't be happier that I was wrong! Here's to another dose of "hope".

So far, this ROM is perfect! The only bugs that I have experienced so far are that Youtube in HQ stutters and this is probably the most interesting bug I've come across ever: the mic seems to be active at all times and if you put your palm near or on it, it will make a beeping noise. I can actually make different tones of beeps depending on the position of my hand maybe I can make some music with it? haha

Thats great to hear... Sure there will be a few bugs but I think this is finally a much better build than previous attempts. If Sammy would ever drop official GB they would be in so much better shape having some source code to work with...

Wimax or 4g, was one of the hangups on the first run around of CM 7 for the Epic. Again they needed the source code and other things to get it working which they never did. It may come down to that again for this version also. I guess time will tell.

Are you able to send sms and mms messages? I read in XDA that people were having issues with this.

Any of the random reboots (EHxx), or poor gps (EGxx) issues we've been dealing with on the GB builds?

Stability is key here. I couldn't care less about 4g working (I spend most of my time in 2.5g [1X] anyways, and only when I go to "town" do I switch over to 1XEV). Not like Sprint is increasing the wimax footprint, and there is nothing really (aside from a 1/4 sq/mi patch on the turnpike near me) within 100mi of here.
Sprint Galaxy Nexus [stock for now]
    BB 8130, iPhone 4 8g, iPhone 3g 16gb, Toshiba e800, Palm Tungsten T
[retired]Epic 4g, BB8330, BB 9670, Samsung Intercept, Katana DLX, Sanyo 8400, HTC Wizard, MPX220, and many others...

    Understandable.

I must say on the other side of things, I'm getting some of the best 3G speeds I've experienced on my Epic with this rom.
