LG Optimus 2x from Canada question

Ok well first of all I'd like to say that it feels GREAT to be back on Android after 6 months of being on Iphone 4.....(was on Evo 4g)
So my Evo couldnt be used in Canada when I moved I had to settle for "THAT THING"
anyways...I finally got my Optimus and I wanted to know exactly what to do about rooting it?
What instructions do I follow? Is it the same one as the G2x? Mine is a LG-P999....Just trying to be safe about things.

P999? That is the G2X. The O2X is P990. So yeah...use the G2X guide.

The g2x is called the 2x in Canada my friend bought the g2x in Canada and used the 2x ways to root and custom recovery and his phone wouldn't turn on lol he tossed it

No your friend did not buy a G2x. He may have purchased a O2x P999. The G2x name is only sold by T-Mobile. Yeah splitting hairs here.
