Hi,

Can't find the answer on Google:

Is there anyway to make the ESSID+Password for the WiFi Hotspot persistent? Or any helper apps that do the same?

It seems to revert to "AndoidAP" + random password whenever the hotspot is turned off, which is deeply annoying

This is Android 2.3.5 on a Samsung Galaxy S2

Many TIA

Tim

I tried it with the native hotspot in CM7 and it holds the settings, I'm not sure if you are using the Carrier app or not.

Hope this helps a little.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply - I'm using the native hotspot in Gingerbread. My carrier ("3", UK) thankfully loads minimal crap on their phones - not even felt the need to root it yet

Have you tried the Galaxy S2 forum to see if it's a Touch Wiz "feature?"

Hi,

I figured it out - it seems counter intuitive....

Normally, I expect to configure something before turning it on. Here, setting the Hotspot parameters, then turning the hotspot on seems to reset the hotspot settings.

Turning on the hotspot, then enter the configure options seems to stick, even across reboots.

Problem solved!

Cheers,

Tim
