S4 Lock Screen Keyboard Popup

Hey guys,

I just bought an S4 last night and loving it so far, but there is one little thing that bugs me. I have my lock screen set to "password". Whenever I turn my device on to check the time or date or whatever, the s4 immediately pops up the keyboard with the assumption I want to log in. Is there a way I can stop the keyboard from popping up immediately?
