Firstly, I apologize if this has been covered in the past, or is considered common knowledge at this point.

I'm switching from iPhone to Android later this week. My wife will be keeping her iPhone 4s. I travel quite a bit for work, and I use Facetime calls all the time to talk to/see my 2 year old.

Is there an app that works similarly to Facetime across both operating systems? Like, I'll want to make a video call from my 4G Android to my wife's 3G iPhone, sometimes while not connected to Wi-Fi.

Is this possible? Thanks in advance!

You could use Google Hangouts as well (which means you wouldn't need to sign up for another service since you'd already have a google id) and hangouts works really really well (plus it works on iPhones, iPads, Android phones, Macs, PC's, etc....).

Great news. Thanks for the replies, everyone!

I wouldn't have even thought of Google Hangouts, but I'll definitely look in to it.

Thanks again.
