Broken Note 2 Data Recovery

So my wife's phone is broken.

Screen broken no signs of life and digitizer broken. Phone will power on I can hear the power on tone and the led lights indicate it is functioning but screen won't work.

Is there anyway to pull pictures and text history from the phone?

Problems
She didn't have debugging available and when I connect it USB it won't show up on our pc.
no Samsung account linked to the phone so I can't connect that way...

Any ideas?

I saw that one but was hoping for a more simple way. Sucks the pc won't connect
